On 30^th of November, within the framework of the International Campaign against Gender Violence, UG hosted a public lecture on “Femicide and Violence against Women”.

Guest Speakers:

Lawyer of the organization of “Human Rights Partnership”;

Mariam Kevkhishvili – Lawyer of the organization of “Human Rights Partnership”.

The following issues were discussed: Legislative amendments based on Istanbul Convention (compulsory sterilization, mutilation of genitals, protective orders and “keeps track of”).

• Femicide regulation in national legislation
• Deficiencies in domestic violence and investigation of cases of violence against women
• Factors that encourage domestic and women violence
• Stereotypical attitude of society

The meeting was organized by the Law school of UG, Domestic Violence, Victim Protection and Assistance Clinic.
